Scouting NJIT
NJIT grabbed a 1-0 victory in its season opener at home against Sacred Heart last Friday. Redshirt sophomore
Rene White scored the game-winning tally for the Highlanders in the 58th minute with
Andrew Nino earning the assist. White, the Highlanders forward, scored six goals and accumulated 14 points in 2016, both marks good enough for second on the team.
Pablo Jimenez, a Preseason ASUN All-Conference honoree and Fan-Voted Player of the Year, is the top returning scorer from 2017 after compiling 13 points (three goals, seven assists) for NJIT as a freshman.
Last season, NJIT went 8-7-4 overall and 3-2-1 in the ASUN Conference. Guirassy, the NCAA Division I Golden Boot Award Winner, led NJIT last season with 16 goals and three assists, while
Pablo Jimenez notched a team-best seven assists. Five of Guirassy's goals last season were game-winning goals for the Highlanders.
Scouting Navy
The Midshipmen look to bounce back following its season-opening loss to Manhattan on Friday night, 1-0. The Jaspers scored in the 83rd minute to steal the match late and hand Navy its third-straight loss in season openers.
In 2017, Navy struggled late in games allowing 12 goals in the final 30 minutes of its matches, while scoring just five times during that time span. The Midshipmen fell victim to another late goal to start this season after Manhattan scored with just seven minutes to play in regulation.
Of the 12 goals Navy allowed in the final 30 minutes of regulation last year, 10 were game-tying or game-winning goals for the opposition.
