FORT MYERS, FL—NJIT junior 
Justin Etts drove in the game-winning run as visiting NJIT, topped No. 22 FGCU, 4-3, to conclude the three-game ASUN Conference series at Swanson Stadium Sunday afternoon.
NJIT (12-12, 2-4 ASUN), scored single runs late in the game, delivering runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth, handing FGCU (24-7, 2-1 ASUN) its first loss in ASUN Conference action.
FGCU led 3-1 heading into the seventh as the Highlanders plated single runs in the final three innings to secure the, 4-3, victory.
The Highlanders used four pitchers on the day, as RHP 
Tommy Derer, NJIT's final pitcher, picked up the win, improving to 2-0 on the season, pitching the final 3.0 innings, allowing just two hits and no runs.

Justin Etts, who drove in the game-winning run with an RBI single to left field in the top of the ninth, finished 3-for-5 with one RBI while RF 
Michael Anastasia went 3-for-4 with one RBI, including his seventh double of the season. 
LF 
Evan Pietronico finished 2-for-5 with one run scored (the game-tying run) and 2B 
Tom Brady and C 
Paul Franzoni combined for one hit in the win as Franzoni scored the game-winner run on Etts single.
FGCU starting pitcher Justin Gill pitched 6.0 innings in his second start of the season, taking a no decision.  The Eagles third pitcher, Kenton Hering was credited with the loss, dropping to 4-2 on the season.
Eagles 2B Eric Gonzalez finished 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run, including his fifth home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth while LF Eli Lovell combined for a 2-for-3 performance with one RBI.
NJIT used back-to-back doubles in the seventh, bringing the Highlanders back in the game and tied the game in the eighth on two more base hits.
In the ninth, NJIT capitalized on an error that turned a single into a runner at third with one out, plating the go-ahead run on a single.
FGCU had a chance to get back in front in its half of the eighth, putting two runners on with only one out in the inning but a strikeout and a fly out ended the threat.
NJIT will return to non-conference action at Tuesday at 6pm, hosting Saint Peter's at Riverfront Stadium.  NJIT, which has played its first 24 games on the road, will host its first home game of the 2018 season on Tuesday against the Peacocks.
