NEWARK, NJ – NJIT men's volleyball fell 3-2 to the Milwaukee School on Engineering on Wednesday night at the Wellness and Events Center, despite a career night by sophomore
Piotr Namiotko.
Namiotko registered a game-high 23 kills in the loss for the Highlanders (6-15), with eight digs and three blocks.
The only other Highlander to record double-digit kills was freshman
Alvaro Gimeno who also tallied eight kills.
Shannon Heckman made a team-high nine digs and
Luca Berger and
Kevin Myren each had five blocks.
For the Raiders (13-10), who also played a game against Stevens on Wednesday, received 15 kills and five blocks from Jake Christensen and another 26 kills from Bryant Holland and Sam Stealey.
Andrew Miller tallied a game-high 49 assists and game-high 20 digs, while Spencer Mueller made a game-high eight kills.
NJIT grabbed wins in the first two sets, earning 25-20 and 25-22 victories and a 2-0 advantage in the match.
MSOE came back winning the third 25-21, and the fourth in a 68 point set 35-33 to push a fifth set.
The Raiders took a 5-0 lead in the fifth and cruised to a 15-6 win, to take the match.
The Highlanders switch back to EIVA play, traveling to Sacred Heart on Friday and Harvard on Saturday.
