NEWARK, NJ--NJIT (6-13, 3-6 EIVA) will host visiting George Mason (12-10, 8-0 EIVA) on Friday night in EIVA Conference action at the Wellness and Events Center.

NJIT, winners of its last three matches, are coming off a 3-0 sweep over Erskine on Wednesday night and a conference sweep against Charleston (WV). George Mason comes into the match with back-to-back wins against Charleston (WV).

All-Time Series
George Mason leads the all-time series, 52-9. Last season, the Highlanders defeated George Mason (then-ranked #15) 3-1 on February 17 behind a match-best 19 kills by Jabarry Goodridge.

Last Time Out
The Patriots defeated NJIT 3-0 earlier this year and were led by Hayden Wagner and Sam Greenslade's nine kills. Mason won each set by no fewer than eight points.

NJIT was led by freshman newcomer Alvaro Gimeno's nine kills and five digs while Bailey Mundy added four kills and Luca Berger and Kevin Myren each posted three kills.

Senior Day
In pre-game ceremonies, NJIT will honors its four graduating seniors -- Cameron Tait, Shannon Heckman, Kevin Myren and Raymond Kowalski.

NJIT Outlook
NJIT, in a stretch of six straight matches at home, enter Friday's match with a 6-13 overall mark, 3-6 in the EIVA. NJIT registered a pair of wins over Charleston (WV) and topped Sacred Heart early on in the season.

NJIT's Alvaro Gimeno and Luca Berger swept EIVA Conference honors las week, after the Highlanders back-to-back wins over Charleston. Gimeno earned his first Offensive Player of the Week honor while Berger, the sophomore transfer, tabbed his first Defensive Player of the Week award.

Gimeno ranks in the top five in three categories in the EIVA -- kills per set (3.39), total kills (224) and service aces per set (0.55). His (0.55) ranks second in the EIVA and ninth in the nation.

Sophomore Piotr Namiotko ranks fifth in the EIVA in kills per set at (3.21). Namiotko has registered seven double-digit kill performances with a season-best 20 kills vs. Harvard on February 24.

NJIT setter Ricardo Whitaker ranks fifth in assists per set at (8.34), recording double-figures in every match played, including a season-best 44 assists vs. Harvard.

In front of the net, Berger paces the Highlanders with 60 total blocks while Kevin Myren notched 52 total blocks.

George Mason Outlook
George Mason enters the weekend 8-0 in conference play. The 8-0 start to EIVA play ties the 2003 team for the best conference start in program history.

A win on Friday would be the ninth consecutive conference victory to tie the 2016 team for the longest in program history. Two wins over the weekend would consequently set a new program record.

Junior Kyle Barnes earned his second EIVA Offensive Player of the Week this season after notching 22 kills while hitting .400. His two double-digit kill matches against UCWV were his seventh and eighth of the season, which improved Mason to 7-1 when he posts 10 or more.

Senior Brian Negron leads the EIVA with 10.73 assists per set and has tallied at least 30 assists in his past three matches (all of them were three sets).

Hayden Wagner ranks in the NCAA top-15 in three categories -- 0.47 aces per set (11th), 3.63 kills per set (14th), and 4.44 points per set (9th) while Gomez ranks fifth with 2.80 digs per set.

Mason leads the EIVA in kills per set (12.36) and assists per set. (11.45). The 12.36 kills per set average ranks ninth nationally, as the Patriots rank second in the EIVA in hitting percentage (.272) and 15th in the NCAA in aces per set (1.55).
