NEW HAVEN, CT – NJIT men's tennis fell 7-0 to Yale, and defeated Fairfield 5-2 on Saturday at Yale.
The Highlanders lone win against Yale came from second doubles duo
Lukas Zvikas and
Richard Rangga who won 6-4.
NJIT played tough in singles play, with
Tomi Antoljak falling 7-6 (5), 6-3 in first singles, Zvikas at second singles lost 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 and
Zac Castagna 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 at fourth singles.
(Against Fairfield) "Came out strong in the doubles and continued with good intensity in the singles", head coach
Ira Miller said about the match. "Abdallah and Zac got us in the win column quickly and rich and Aleksa took us home."
The Highlanders registered four wins in singles.
Abdullah Fouad won at third doubles against Anthony Caputo, 6-1, 6-2.
Zac Castagna defeated Dylan Appel in identical 6-2, 6-2 scores in fourth singles.
In fifth singles
Richard Rangga won 7-6(4), 7-5 over Allan Magid.
The last singles win came from Aleska Petrovic who defeated John Hatala 7-6(5), 7-5.
In doubles play, the Highlanders picked up two wins, Petrovic and Fouad won 6-4 and Zvikas and Rangga also won 6-4. With the doubles wins NJIT won the match, and the other two doubles matches didn't need to be played.
The Highlanders continue their play at Yale, and compete against Marist on Sunday at 9am.
