MADISON, NJ – NJIT men's lacrosse dropped an 11-9 decision to VMI on Saturday afternoon at Drew University's Ranger Stadium.

The Highlanders (0-5) were once again led by junior Aaron Forster who posted a season-high four goals in the game. Forster's now 18 game scoring streak, which started against VMI on February 25 of last year, ties the NJIT record held by Joe Lomeli from 2015-2016.

Freshmen Collin Fogerty and Nicholas Irwin both collected their first collegiate goals in the loss, Fogerty scored two and Irwin one.

Senior captain Nick Marzullo earned his 500 career save in the loss, posting his fifth double-digit day of the season with 10 saves. In his four-years as a Highlander Marzullo has accumulated 506 saves with 11 games remaining in 2018.

Cole Robillard and Ryan Kaden each tallied a goal and an assist for NJIT, and Ryan Darrow, Max Wilson and John Tachon distributed assists, with sophomore Tachon getting the first of his career.

Sophomore Adam Gonzalez posted a personal-best nine faceoff wins, going 9-for-20 from the faceoff circle.

Eight of the Keydets (1-1) 11 goals came from Ryan Perouty and Wesley Sanders who each had four, while Jon Fant added two and Anthony Moran one of his own.

Freshman Bill Osteen recorded nine saves for VMI.

The Keydets had a 7-4 lead going into halftime, and the Highlanders were able to outscore them 5-4 in the second half  but fell 11-9 score.
