Highlanders Fall 14-5 to No. 12 Army West Point

WEST POINT, NY – NJIT men's lacrosse fell 14-5 to No. 12 Army West Point on Tuesday afternoon at Mitchie Stadium.

Aaron Forster and Cole Robillard scored the Highlanders (0-3) five goals, with junior Forster turning out a hat trick and an assist and junior Robillard getting two goals and an assist. Adam Gonzalez and Nick Marzullo each added an assist.

Sophomore John Tachon led the Highlander defense with five ground balls

Goalie Marzullo made 15 saves in the loss and picked up four ground balls.

Alexzander Hunt notched his first collegiate minutes in the game, and in his first second in net tallied his first ever save.

The Black Knights (2-0) had seven different goal scorers, with Nate Jones leading the pack with a hat trick, followed by two goals from Matt Manown, Conor Glancy, David Symmes, Sean O'Brien and Ted Glesener. Jeremy Angle picked up the last goal.

Five West Point goalies split time, with AJ Baretto earning the win with one save. Greg Coleman tallied the other save, and Matt Isnardi, Paul Newbold and Matt Koziol each saw time in net.

The first quarter was close with Army West Point scoring three goals to start the period before Forster's goal, a nice run off a long pass from goalie Marzullo.

The second quarter was dominated by the Black Knights, who notched six unanswered goals for a 9-1 score going into halftime.

The Highlanders accumulated two more goals in the third quarter, but were outscored again 3-2.

To start the fourth, NJIT scored in the first seven seconds, when Adam Gonzalez won the faceoff and passed it up to Forster who fired a shot past the goalie. Forster would add another goal in the fourth, and Army West Point scored two for the final 14-5 score.

The Highlanders continue road play, heading to Newark, DE on Saturday, February 17 for a 1pm game against the Delaware Blue Hens.
