DELAND, FL – Stetson registered their first ASUN Conference win of the season defeating the Highlanders 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Women's soccer drops to 10-4-1 overall and 4-2-0 in conference play, while the Hatters advance to 4-8-3 and 1-4-1 in the ASUN.
The Hatters opened up the game scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes of play with goals from Nicole Foley, Hailey Williams and Jordan Ross.
In the second half the Highlanders made their comeback scoring a goal in the 63
rd minute by
Tara Walenczyk off a pass from Ariana Gerber.
Fiona Wright converted a penalty kick in the 71
st minute to bring NJIT within one 3-2.
The Hatters added on an insurance goal in the 86
th minute on a breakaway from Lindsey Parent securing the win for her team.
Despite the score the Highlanders held the advantage in shots 18-10 and corner kicks 7-1.
Amelia Sapirman made two saves in the loss, while Emily Plotz earned the win and six saves on the day.
The Highlanders finish up conference play hosting Kennesaw State on October 13 and North Alabama on October 21 for their final two games of the regular season.
