HILLSIDE, NJ—NJIT registered its first ASUN Conference win of the season with a 2-0 shutout victory over visiting Stetson Saturday evening in league action at Kean University East Campus Facility.
NJIT moves to 1-3-0 in the ASUN, 6-7 overall, snapping a six-match skid, while Stetson stands at 0-2-1 in the ASUN, 5-7-1 overall.
The Highlanders scored both goals in the second half to secure the 2-0 victory.

Rene White scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season and ranks tied for first in the ASUN in total goals.
Freshman
Victor Gomez notched his second career goal for NJIT while junior co-captain
Andrew Nino was credited with both Highlander assists. Nino ranks second in the ASUN in total assists with six.
Junior goalkeeper
Victor Gomez combined for the shutout win, stopping five Hatter shots in 90 minutes of action.
Stetson's Erwan Colas led the match with six total shots (three on goal) as the visitors held a 12-9 advantage in overall shots and slight edge in corner kicks, 4-3. Two of the Hatters 12 shots hit the cross bar.
The Highlanders broke through in the 55
th minute on a goal scored by Gomez, giving the Highlanders a 1-0 lead over the Hatters. Nino was credited with the assist, his fifth of the season.
NJIT doubled the score in the 71
st minute on a long pass from Nino to White, who tucked away his ninth goal of the season on a right-footed strike.
A foul in the box, resulted in a Stetson penalty kick in the 81
st minute but Highlander keeper Pujades made the save on Colas' shot to keep the Hatters off the board.
NJIT will return to action on Tuesday at 6:30pm when the Highlanders visit Seton Hall.
