RIVERDALE, NY – 
Tess Albyn tallied a career-high 22 kills in the Highlanders 3-1 win over Manhattan on Wednesday night.
In a thrilling 3-1 win, the Highlanders (3-7) were led by senior Albyn, whose 22 kills were also a game-high.
Alyssa Armada notched three aces and 15 digs, while 
Liz Benson collected 47 assists in her first game back returning from injury.
Mikalah Hughes had a team-high eight blocks and libero 
Adriana Nieto notched a game-high 23 digs.
For the Jaspers (0-11), Sandra Lozanova had 12 kills, Meagan Miller had nine kills and eight blocks, Zoe Lindsey made 23 assists and Alyssa Rehrer has 19 digs.
Manhattan won 26-24, in a close first set that NJIT almost came back to win. The Highlanders were down 16-20 but worked back up to tie it at 22, with the help of senior Armada. NJIT grabbed a 24-23 lead before the Jaspers tallied the last four points to take the win.
The Highlanders took set number two by a margin of six points, 25-19. The set was close and tied at 17 before NJIT scored five consecutive points to grab a 21-17 lead. Hughes and 
Iva Mandic each produced kills in that five point run.
The third set tallied 58 total points from both teams, with the Highlanders coming out the victor 30-28. Manhattan was a point away from grabbing the win with a 24-19 advantage, but NJIT came back again scoring seven unanswered points, with two kills and a block from Hughes, two kills from Albyn and a service ace from Armada.
The teams would go back and forth until Albyn put the Highlanders one point away from the win with a kill. 
Adrianne Bynoe and Armada came up with a big block against Miller to put the set away for NJIT.
For the final set of the match, the Highlanders went on another point spree, gaining six points in a row to give themselves an 18-13 lead, and went on to win the match 25-19.
Next up for women's volleyball is the Lafayette Tournament, hosted by the Leopards on September 15-16. NJIT will face host Lafayette on Friday at 7pm and FDU on Saturday starting at 11am.
