Men’s Tennis Drops 5-2 Decision at St. John’s

QUEENS, NY—The NJIT men's tennis team (7-10) fell at St. John's (9-13), 5-2, Sunday morning in a non-conference match-up.

Highlander duo Richard Rangga and Pablo Arrutia turned in a strong effort in their doubles match, but ultimately fell to Alan Aguilera and Dusan Vukicevic of St. John's, 6-4, at second singles.  St. John's would go on to take the doubles point. 

In the singles competition, sophomore Lukas Zvikas earned a singles victory, overcoming Andrei Crapcenco of St. John's, 6-4, 4-4 (ret), at third singles.  Crapcenco was unable to complete the match.

NJIT's Arrutia earned a singles victory, defeating Freddy Acevedo, 8-3 at the six spot.

Highlander Zac Castagna battled St. John's Ognjen Trejgut down to the wire, but ultimately fell to Trejgut, 7-6, 6-4, at the fourth spot.

NJIT will return to ASUN Conference play on Thursday, April 6, as the Highlanders travel to DeLand, FL to take on Stetson.  The match will begin at 2 pm.
