Men's Tennis | 2/18/2017 6:48:00 PM

NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT men's tennis team earned their second win of the 2017 season, sweeping Bucknell 7-0 Saturday morning at the The Naimoli Facility Athletic and Recreational Facility.

The Highlanders started the day off strong, earning the doubles point in convincing fashion by posting victories in all three matches.

"Our strong showing in the doubles took us straight into a dominant win over a tough Patriot League opponent," said head coach Ira Miller.

Highlander duo Jan Cimrman and Aleska Petrovic earned a hard-fought victory at first doubles, defeating Bucknell's Max Palmer and Andrei Vitiuc, 6-4.

NJIT's dominance continued into the singles portion of the day, with strong performances across the board, including sophomore Lukas Zvikas, who defeated Bucknell's Daniel Wright in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5.

After earning a victory in doubles, Petrovic posted a singles victory in straight sets, defeating Bucknell junior Max Kane, 6-3, 6-3.

Richard Rangga, Zac Castagna, and Pablo Arruita all posted straight-set victories for NJIT.

The Highlanders will look to extend their winning streak next Saturday, February 25, as they take on Bryant at Army's West Point at 9 am.
