POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – NJIT men's fencing competed at the Tradition Tournament hosted by Vassar on Sunday.
The Highlanders (10-8) went 3-3 at the tournament, scoring victories over host Vassar 15-12, Sacred Heart 21-6 and NYU 19-9, but falling to UPenn 19-7, Harvard 19-8, and Penn State 17-10.
Foilst
Henrique Marques earned himself a 14-4 record on the day. The senior went 3-0 over Sacred Heart, NYU and Vassar, and only posted a losing record against Harvard.
On the epee strip
Ege Ayan went 11-7 defeating Sacred Heart 3-0 and NYU, Vassar and Penn State 2-1.
Thomas Slawinski and
Cole Degeorges both tallied winning records on the sabre strip. Sophomore Slawinski went 11-7 and senior Degeorges posted an 10-8 record at the tournament.
Men's fencing will take a break in competition until the New Year, when they head to Philadelphia on January 20 for the Philadelphia Invitational hosted by UPenn.
