WEST POINT, NY—Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year Madison Hovren registered a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead Army West Point past visiting NJIT, 79-49, on the eve of Thanksgiving at Christl Arena in non-conference women's basketball action.
Army (3-2) which led by four, 39-35, at the half, used a 28-6 spurt in the third quarter and cruised to a 79-49 victory.
NJIT (0-5) found themselves down by just one after the first quarter, 18-17 and were outscored, 21-18, in the second stanza heading into intermission down four, 35-39.
In addition to Hovren's game-best 21 points and 13 rebounds, the Black Knights Aliyah Murray finished with nine points and eight boards, while Libby Tacka handed out eight assists to pair with eight points. Janae McNeal also added eight points and four assists.
NJIT's lone double-figure scorer was redshirt junior
Tatianna Torres, who notched 11 points and three assists.

Amarri Trueheart chipped in eight points apiece while freshman guard
Dez Allen came off the bench to add seven points.
Sophomore forward
Danielle Tunstall and Lewis led the Highlanders with six rebounds. Three different Highlanders –
Ellyn Stoll,
Tracey Brereton and Allen each added four rebounds.
NJIT will return to action on Saturday when the Highlanders visit Dartmouth at 2pm.
