Dartmouth Tops Visiting NJIT


HANOVER, NH—Dartmouth poured in 46 first half points and four players reached double-digit scoring, as the Big Green went on to top the visiting, NJIT, 81-51, Sunday afternoon in women's basketball non-conference action.

Dartmouth, winners of its first four games, moves to 4-0 on the season while the Highlanders, still in search of its first win of the 2017 season, falls to 0-6 on the young season.

The Big Green took control from the tip, exploding for 24 first quarter points and scored 22 points in the second stanza, holding a 46-17 lead heading into intermission.  NJIT combined for 21 third quarter points paced by redshirt junior Tatianna Torres with nine points.  Dartmouth closed out the game in the fourth quarter with a 24-12 advantage.

Forward Isalys Quinones registered a double-double for the Big Green combining for 18 points and 11 rebounds followed by Kate Letkewicz's 16 points and seven rebounds.  Letkewicz finished 6-of-8 from the field and 4-for-6 from behind the three-point arc. 

Guard Cy Lippold added 12 points and a game-best eight assists, as the Big Green posted 25 assists for the game.  Three different players Quinones, Letkewicz and Elle Louie notched four assists each.  Emily Slagle chipped in 10 points.

NJIT was led by Torres, who shared game-high honors with Quinones, combining for 18 points and nine rebounds, including a team-best four assists.  Point guard Amber Morgan registered a career-best, scoring 10 points.

Forwards Danielle Tunstall and Jillian Libby grabbed six rebounds apiece for the Highlanders.

NJIT will return to action on Wednesday when the Highlanders host LIU Brooklyn inside the new state-of-the-art Wellness and Events Center.
