Millersville Defeats NJIT 4-1

Newark, NJ – Playing the second time in less than week, the Millersville Marauders once again come up on top, this time 4-1. The Marauders sweep the season series at 2-0. The Highlanders have now lost six games in a row.

Millersville got the only goal in the 1st period mid-way through and took that 1-goal advantage into the 2nd period. NJIT was able to equalize in the late stages of the period when Phil Lelikov scored off a centering pass from Joseph Dickinson. For Lelikov, that is his 5th goal of the season. Unfortunately, the Marauders responded less than three minutes later to regain their lead and the score was 2-1 in their favor after two periods.

Millersville put the game away in the 3rd period with two goals (one on the power play). The physical play increased as it was a penalty-filled period and as a result NJIT was not able to muster much offense to come back. Matthew Altomare (now sporting #65), made 41 saves in the evening.

The Highlanders will return of RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House for another big Colonial States College Hockey Conference showdown tomorrow at 8:30 vs. Rutgers
