Newark, NJ – Playing the second time in less than week, the Millersville Marauders once again come up on top, this time 4-1. The Marauders sweep the season series at 2-0. The Highlanders have now lost six games in a row.
Millersville got the only goal in the 1
st period mid-way through and took that 1-goal advantage into the 2
nd period. NJIT was able to equalize in the late stages of the period when
Phil Lelikov scored off a centering pass from Joseph Dickinson. For Lelikov, that is his 5
th goal of the season. Unfortunately, the Marauders responded less than three minutes later to regain their lead and the score was 2-1 in their favor after two periods.
Millersville put the game away in the 3
rd period with two goals (one on the power play). The physical play increased as it was a penalty-filled period and as a result NJIT was not able to muster much offense to come back.
Matthew Altomare (now sporting #65), made 41 saves in the evening.
The Highlanders will return of RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House for another big Colonial States College Hockey Conference showdown tomorrow at 8:30 vs. Rutgers
