A Look at NJIT
Men's soccer, which played the previous two seasons as an associate member of the Sun Belt Conference, is in its first season as a member of the school's multi-sport conference, the ASUN Conference. Men's Soccer begins competing in the ASUN a year later than the other NJIT programs, which began play in the ASUN in 2015-16.
The Highlanders enter the game with a 3-2-2 overall mark, with two 1-0 victories over Fairleigh Dickinson and Manhattan, to open the 2016 season and 3-2 thrilling win at Niagara.
NJIT, which has played in three overtime matches, drew even with 2015 Atlantic 10 regular season champion George Washington, 1-1, and most recently against Stony Brook, 2-2.
Goalkeeper
Victor Pujades ranks second in the league with two clean sheets and his .910 goals against average is just outside the top-50 in the NCAA.
Recapping Stony Brook Match
NJIT (3-2-2) scored a goal in each half while Stony Brook (4-2-1), a tough team from the America East Conference, entered the match winners of its last three, used two second-half goals to erase a 1-0 halftime deficit before, drawing even late in regulation to settle for a 2-2 draw.
NJIT got on the board in the 29th minute on a header by freshman
Rene White off a beautiful cross from classmate
Andy Alvarez for a 1-0 advantage.
The Seawolves evened the match at 1-1 in the 59th minute and scored five minutes later, connecting on a penalty kick by sophomore Vince Erdei, taking a 2-1 lead.
The Highlanders tied the game at 2-2 in the 81st minute on the first goal of the season by senior
Victor Kausch. NJIT freshman
Juan Zapata served a free kick from the left side of the field to the back post, to a waiting Kausch, who headed home the free kick.
Head Coach Fernando Barboto
Fernando Barboto came to NJIT after a successful 13-year run as head coach at Iona in New Rochelle, NY, where he won 116 games and built a program from one that was winless in 20 matches the year before he arrived to one that was a perennial Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contender by the time he left.

Dolphins vs. Highlanders
This will mark the second all-time meeting between the two schools. NJIT previously beat Jacksonville, 3-2, at the Mike Gibbs Memorial Tournament in Jacksonville, to open the 2014 season
