SOUTH ORANGE, NJ—Seton Hall scored seven times in the second inning and added two more in the sixth to go along with solid pitching for a 9-2 victory over visiting NJIT Wednesday afternoon at Owen T. Carroll Field.
The Pirates, winners of four of their last five games, improve to an even 6-6 on the season, while the Highlanders fall to 3-8.
Seton Hall 3B Joe Poduslenko and 1B Mikael-Ali Mogues were the hits leaders for their team, finishing the game 2-for-3. 2B Derek Caputo and CF Derek Jenkins drove in a pair of runs apiece for the Pirates. Six different Pirates recorded a hit in the victory.
Junior RHP Zach Prendergast was solid as the Seton Hall starter, scattering four hits over six innings, while holding the Highlanders scoreless. He struck out three and walked two. The Pirates used five pitchers in the final three innings. The win Wednesday raised Prendergast's win-loss record to 2-2.

Johnny Malatesta, who led off the inning with a walk, advanced to second on passed ball and to third on a wild pitch.
NJIT got another run in the ninth on an RBI groundout to shortstop by

NJIT will return to action on Saturday when the Highlanders visit Coppin State for a three-game series beginning at 1pm. NJIT and Coppin State will wrap up the series with a single game on Sunday at 12pm.
