NEWARK, NJ--NJIT junior outside hitter Jabarry Goodridge has been selected VolleyMetrics Player of the Week for his performance through March 6, Editor of Off the Block, Vinnie Lopes announced Friday.

Goodridge, an All-EIVA selection a year ago, and listed on this season's watch list for the Karch Kirlay award, as the nation's top outside attacker, put up impressive offensive numbers in the Highlanders three matches last week against Rutgers-Newark, George Mason and McKendree.

The VolleyMetrics Ratings compared Goodridge and sophomore opposite Ben Patch from No. 2 BYU, who was named Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II National Player of the Week and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation/Molten Player of the Week.

Both players' overall scores were close but received a high overall rating for different reasons. Goodridge, the Highlanders junior from Bridgetown, Barbados, serving (7.78) and blocking scores (7.58) exceeded Patch's scores by at least three points, while Patch scored a 9.20 in attacking. Both had similar scores for passing and digging.

Patch averaged 5.57 kills per game while hitting .456 in two victories, including a .700 attack percentage. He also added in seven block assists and nine digs.

Goodridge had an overall serving percentage of .811, while contributing nine aces. Patch had no aces and nine serving errors in two matches and finished with a .471 serving percentage.  He combined for 61 kills (5.08) and .349 hitting percentage.
