HOBOKEN, NJ – The NJIT men's fencing team competed at the MACFA A vs B on Sunday, hosted by Stevens.
The Highlanders, who increase their record to 27-12, went 3-2 on the day, with wins over Haverford (16-11), Drew (21-6) and Rutgers (20-7), and close losses to Lafayette (13-14) and Cornell (12-15).
The sabre squad was led by
Tristan Quinton who compiled a 13-2 overall record. The freshman posted 3-0 wins over Haverford, Drew, Rutgers and Cornell, falling only to Lafayette 1-2. Sophomore
Robert Slawinski, who was the only Highlander to win all of his bouts, posted a 10-5 record, defeating all opponents 2-1.
Junior
Ryan Hrapsky led the epee squad with a 7-2 overall record, while junior
David Kong posted a 3-0 record with wins over Drew and Rutgers.
Foilst
Maxwell Miller finished with an 11-4 overall record, going undefeated against Rutgers and Drew. The foil squad was 4-1 overall with their only loss coming from Cornell.
Up next for the men is the Philadelphia Invitational hosted by Penn on February 21.
