PHILADELPHIA—Forward Sarah Veilleux scored a career-high 19 points, leading Saint Joseph's to a 75-36 victory over, visiting NJIT in non-conference women's basketball action Tuesday evening at Hagan Arena.
Veilleux finished the game 6-of-11 from the field and 5-for-9 from the free throw line while Adasha Franklyn added 10 points and six rebounds for the Hawks.
Forward Chelsea Woods chipped in eight points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and dished out a game-best five assists.
NJIT (4-7) was paced by senior guard
Alana Dudley with 11 points followed by nine from
Tatianna Torres. Forward
Leah Horton pulled down a team-best six rebounds.
Saint Joseph's (3-6) took control of the game early, with a 15-0 run, including eight from Veilleux.
The Hawks built a 27-4 lead after the first quarter and extended its advantage to 45-17 at the half. Saint Joseph's continued to push its lead, taking its largest lead in the fourth quarter, 71-29, cruising to a 75-36 victory.
NJIT will return to Newark and host Howard on December 16 at 7pm, before breaking for finals and Christmas Holiday.
Howard enters Friday's contest with a 2-6 overall record, most recently scoring a season-best 95 points against Mount St. Mary's (MD).
