Damon Lynn has been named to the Mayan Division All-Tournament Team at the 2016 Cancun Challenge, as announced by Triple Crown Sports today. The co-captain averaged 19.5 points per game in the two-game series and helped guide the Highlanders to their first-ever win against a Big Sky Conference member with a 71-67 win over Idaho State on Wednesday.
Lynn, who leads the ASUN Conference in scoring at 22.5 points per game, posted a team-high 24 points -- including six three-pointers -- against the Bengals while sealing the victory with a pair of made free throws with :05 left in regulation. He also drained a team-high 15 points in Tuesday's loss to eventual Mayan Division Champion Georgia State.
In their first game of the Cancun Challenge against Utah State, played on Nov. 14 in Logan, Utah, the Hillside, N.J., native tied his own NJITÂ Division-I single-game record by scoring a game-high 34 points.
Lynn is the nation's D-I career leader in three-pointers made (374) while ranking second in points (1,855) and sixth in scoring average (18.0 ppg).
The MVP was Georgia State freshman D'Marcus Simonds while the other members of the Mayan Division All-Tournament Team were Idaho State's Brandon Boyd, Eastern Kentucky's Jaylen Babb-Harrison and Nick Mayo and Georgia State's Justin Seymour.
