NEW YORK – The NJIT men's fencing team swept all five teams that they faced in the MACFA A vs. B hosted by Hunter on Sunday.
The Highlanders defeated TCNJ 26-1, Cornell 18-9, Drew 15-12, Lafayette 20-7 and Rutgers 22-5.
The foil squad went undefeated against TCNJ, Lafayette and Rutgers led by
Simon Rizell,
Nicholas Concepcion and
Alexander Massa.
Junior Rizell went 9-0 against TCNJ, Cornell and Rutgers while sophomore Concepcion posted 3-0 wins against TCNJ and Rutgers and a 2-1 win over Cornell.
Freshman Massa accumulated a 12-3 record against all five teams.
Ryan Hrapsky led the epee squad collected a 9-0 record against TCNJ, Cornell and Rutgers and
Ege Ayan went 12-3.
On the saber strip
Cole Degeorges went 11-4, defeating TCNJ 3-0.
Some fencers also participated in the Regional Open Circuit over the weekend.
Greg Puccio placed first in men's saber while
Tristan Decker finished second in men's epee.
Sophomore Puccio was seeded eleventh and finished first out of 55 fencers.
Fellow sophomore Decker, who was seeded seventh, posted a 5-0 record in pool play before falling in the finals to Fanasois Ouimet 15-9.
Cole Degeorges and
Dan Boylan also competed at the circuit.
Next up for men's fencing is the Sacred Heart Invitational on December 4 for an 8am start time.
