NEW YORK – The NJIT men's and women's fencing teams competed at the Columbia Invitational on Friday.
The other two teams competing in the meet were Columbia and Johns Hopkins.
The Highlander men fell to Columbia 11-16 and Johns Hopkins 13-14, while the women dropped a 8-19 decision to Johns Hopkins and lost 5-22 to Columbia.
Despite the men's foil wins against both John Hopkins (5-4) and Columbia (6-3), NJIT could not grab a win against either team.
Chris Saulys led the squad posting the only win over Johns Hopkins going 3-0.
Against Columbia,
Simon Rizell,
David Kong and
Henrique Marques posted 2-1 wins over Columbia.
On the women's side the Highlanders had three winners.
Julia Garcia defeated both Johns Hopkins (2-1) and swept Columbia (3-0) on the epee strip.

Jule Shigihara each went 3-0 against Johns Hopkins.
Men's fencing will travel to Hunter on Sunday to participate in the MACFA A vs. B meet starting at 10am.
The women take a break until December when they compete in the LIU Post Invitational on December 10 at 8am.
