Men's Ice Hockey Defeats Rutgers 5-2

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – NJIT men's ice hockey defeated Rutgers 5-2 in the Scarlet Knights home opener on Sunday at ProSkate Arena.

Bouncing back from their loss to Princeton on Friday, the Highlanders (4-1) received five goals from five different players.

Freshman goalie Matthew Altomare stopped 34 of 36 shots in the win.

Tallying goals for the Highlanders were Richard LaBarbiera, Domenico Crincoli, Michael Barrera, Christopher Murphy and David Ferrero.
