PHILADELPHIA – NJIT men's swimming & diving competed in a tri-meet against Drexel and Howard on Saturday afternoon, hosted by the Dragons at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
The Highlanders increased their conference record to 2-0 by defeating CCSA opponent Howard 224-53, while falling to host Drexel 159-123.
NJIT was led by
Brian Capozzola, who placed first in the 200 free with a time of 1:43.48 and first in the 100 free, finishing in 47:09. The senior was part of the first-place 200 free relay team of freshman
Edward Parks, sophomore
Maxim Tillman, and senior
Christian Giglio that came in at 1:27.38. Capozzola also finished second in the 50 free (21.76).
In the 100 fly, sophomore
Collin Moore was first with a time of 52.55, followed by
Edward Parks, who swam in 53.18, good enough for third place. Parks and Moore finished 1, 2 respectively, in the 50 fly, with Parks swimming in 24.24 and Moore in 24.62.
Christian Giglio finished second in the 100 back with a time of 54.71, while senior
Richard Seffrin placed third in the 500 free (4:56.51) and the 1000 free (10:23.36).
The Highlanders placed second, third and fourth in the 100 IM with sophomore
Scott Quirie leading with a time of 56.02, followed by freshman
Alex Danielson, who finished in 56.98, and freshman
Brandon Lachapel, who came in at 59.32.
NJIT will host Fairfield next Saturday, January 23, at 11am for the Highlanders' last home meet of the season, which will be streamed for free.
