NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT men's tennis team finished a perfect 7-0 at home after topping visiting Saint Joseph's, 6-1, in Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility Saturday.
The Highlanders (9-6 overall, 7-0 at home) earned the doubles point by taking first and second doubles while earning straight set victories at five of six singles contests and cruising to a 6-1 victory.
NJIT pair
Markus Schultz and
Arnaud Holl teamed for a 7-6 (5) victory at first doubles topping Kyle Chalmers and Andres Urrea. Schultz won in straight sets at first singles, 6-4, 6-1 defeating Renier Moolman while Holl won 6-4, 7-5 at the third spot topping Urrea.
Highlander duo
Andres Alban and
Jan Cimrman won 6-2 at second doubles defeating Peter Dewitt and Moolman. Alban combined for a 6-1, 6-2 victory at second singles while Cimrman was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at the fourth spot.
Richard Rangga recorded a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the fifth spot.
The Highlanders will return to action on Easter Sunday at Penn State. The match will begin at 1pm.
