FAIRFIELD, CT – NJIT men's fencing went 3-2 at the Sacred Heart Invitational, led by sophomore
Henrique Marques and the foil squad.
The Highlanders defeated NYU 17-10, Sacred Heart 16-11 and Vassar 17-10, while falling to Penn State 17-10 and Harvard 18-9.
Marques was undefeated against NYU, Penn State, Sacred Heart and Vassar with a 14-1 overall record on the foil strip. Also competing in foil was sophomore
Simon Rizell who was 11-4 overall on the day, with 3-0 wins against Sacred Heart and Vassar.
The foil squad also went 5-4 over Penn State, with NJIT's only defeat coming from Harvard.
Junior
Ryan Hrapsky and freshman
Tristan Decker helped the epee squad to a 5-4 win over Harvard. Hrapsky went 4-3 overall while Decker was 8-7 overall and undefeated against NYU.
The saber squad had 5-4 wins over both NYU and Sacred Heart.
Next up, the Highlanders will travel to South Bend, IN on January 16, when Notre Dame will host the DeCicco Duals.
