                     NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT men's swimming and diving team cruised to its first two victories of the 2015-16 season with a 173-86 win over Saint Peter's and a 163-80 win over VMI.
Scott Quirie broke his own record set in 2014 in the 100 IM with a time of 54.57.  The sophomore also helped the 400 medley relay team consisting of teammates 
Alex Danielson, 
Collin Moore, and 
Michael Sungurov to a first-place finish with a time of 3:37.35.
In the 100 backstroke, Quirie paced the Highlanders with a time of 54.47 followed by freshmen 
Luiz De Miranda Leao III (57.08) and 
Brandon Lachapel (59.39), and sophomore 
Edward Mann (59.47) who finished second, third and fourth respectively.
Quirie also placed first in the 200 backstroke, swimming in 1:59.97, while De Miranda Leao III finished second and Mann finished third.
Brian Capozzola finished first in the 50 free (21.30), the 100 free (47.13), and the 200 free (1:45.22). The senior also led the 200 free relay team, with teammates sophomore 
Maxim Tillman, junior 
Michael Sungurov, and freshman 
Edward Parks, to a first place finish with a time of 1:27.41.
Sophomore 
Collin Moore and Parks also swam well for NJIT. Moore placed second after Capozzola in the 200 free with a time of 1:46.69, while Parks placed third in the 100 free, swimming in 49.05. In the 200 fly Parks and Moore finished second and third respectively, and in the 100 fly Moore placed first with a time of 52.48 while Parks finished in third.
The Highlanders have the rest of November off and will head to East Meadow, NY in December for the ECAC Winter Championships.
