HOBOKEN, NJ – The NJIT men's and women's fencing teams started their 2015-16 season competing at the Stevens Invitational on Thursday.
The Highlander men defeated Stevens 15-12 and fell to NYU 10-17 while the women lost 6-21 to Stevens and 4-23 to NYU.
On the foil strip sophomore
Simon Rizell went 3-0 against NYU and finished with a 4-2 overall record. Junior
David Kong went undefeated against Stevens and completed the day with a 4-2 record.
Freshman
Greg Puccio went 3-0 against Stevens on the saber strip in his first collegiate invitational. Puccio finished the day with a 4-2 overall record.
On the women's side sophomore
Jule Shigihara went 2-1 against both Stevens and NYU compiling a 4-2 overall record.
Both teams head to Columbia November 6 to participate in the Columbia Invitational.
