Men's Ice Hockey Falls 5-4 to Princeton

NEWARK, NJ - Playing just a little over 12 hours after last night battle with Seton Hall, the Highlanders gave everything they had to keep up with the Tigers from Princeton.  It was no easy task as the visitors play a very fast style of hockey.

It was a see-saw battle as NJIT overcame a 1-goal deficit to take the lead on a pair of goals by Mike Crincoli late in the first period.  Princeton responded with a power-play goal to start the 2nd period and the score was tied at 2 apiece.  Not to be outdone, Dave Ferrero score a PP tally of his own, but again Princeton responded quickly and it was all tied again.  Another PP goal put Princeton up 4-3 going into the 3rd period, a lead they would not relinquish.  The teams traded chances until the Tigers took the first 2-goal leas of the game.  NJIT kept the pressure on, with nothing to show until pulling the goalie with about 2 minutes to go.  With 30 seconds left on the clock Ferrero scored again, but it would prove too little too late.  Princeton withstood a tremendous amount of pressure in that last half-minute and held on to win the game 5-4.
