Men’s Tennis Splits Two Matches at 2014 National Invitational Tennis Tournament

OMAHA, NE—The NJIT men's tennis team split two matches at the 2014 National Invitational Tennis Tournament hosted by University of Nebraska Omaha at Koch Family Tennis Center Saturday.
 
NJIT (13-6) dropped a 6-1 match to Abilene Christian and bounced back with a 6-1 victory over host Omaha.
 
The lone Highlander winner against Abilene Christian was sophomore Arnaud Holl.  Holl defeated Marco Bensley in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (5) at sixth singles to earning NJIT's only point.
 
NJIT bounced back against Omaha winning two-out-of-three doubles contests and five-out-of-six singles contests securing the 6-1 victory.
 
Highlander duo Markus Schultz and Holger Norregaard combined for an 8-2 victory at second doubles over Tyler Mercier and Nathan Greteman.  Schultz dropped a three-set tilt at first singles against Mercier, winning the first set 7-6(5), but dropping the next two frames, 6-4, 10-2.  Norregaard was a straight-set winner at the second spot, 6-2, 6-3, defeating Adam Dockery.
 
NJIT's Holl and Carl Jedlinski were 8-6 winners at third doubles over Colin Buckley and Erick Anderson.  Jedlinski and Holl won in straight sets at fifth and sixth singles.
 
Sophomore Andres Alban combined for a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the third slot against Colin Buckely while classmate Erik Artursson won by identical scores 6-2, 6-2 over Erik Anderson.
 
NJIT will return to action on Sunday at 9am (CT) against Grand Canyon.
