CCSA Full Release
NEWARK, NJ—Academics are the number one aspect of being a student-athlete at NJIT. The NJIT Men's Swimming & Diving highlighted this fact this season, by garnering CCSA Conference and CSCAA National Team academic awards.
For the fall 2013 semester, the Highlanders received the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Team Scholar All American award. The award is presented to University swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
The team ranked above regional foes Lehigh and Rider, and tied with Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and Iona College with an overall GPA of 3.07 for the semester. The CSCAA press release can be found at:
Eight student-athletes received Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association All Academic Conference Awards for the 2013 fall Semester, a school high. To receive the award the swimmer must have achieved a 3.5 or higher GPA and competed at the 2014 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Championships.

Joe Pedo (Computer Engineering), freshman
Michael Sungurov (Business/ Finance), sophomore
Matthew Temple (Chemical Engineering), sophomore
David Schmidt (Web & Information Systems), junior
Gene Tutzauer (Electrical Engineering), senior
Christian Barnard (Business/ Marketing), and senior
Victor Razuk (Chemical Engineering).
