NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The NJIT swimming and diving team (0-1) fell to Iona (1-0), 171-125, to open the season on Saturday at Hynes Center Pool.

Pawel Drzymala won the 1,000 freestyle with a personal-best time of 9:46.67, which is the sixth-best in program history. He also won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:55.15.

Andrew Cellar won the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.15, which is the seventh-best in school history.
Keegan Wooding earned the victory in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:48.46. Borys Endle won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:08.25.

The Highlanders will host the NJIT Invite on Oct. 10-11, welcoming Villanova, Howard, and Saint Peter's to Newark.
