Swimming and Diving Falls to Iona to Open the Season

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The NJIT swimming and diving team (0-1) fell to Iona (1-0), 171-125, to open the season on Saturday at Hynes Center Pool.
 
"The team swam and raced really well with a month of training under our belts. We are looking forward to some fast swims next week at the NJIT Invite," said head coach Ron Farina.
 
Pawel Drzymala won the 1,000 freestyle with a personal-best time of 9:46.67, which is the sixth-best in program history. He also won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:55.15.
 
Andrew Cellar won the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.15, which is the seventh-best in school history. Keegan Wooding earned the victory in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:48.46. Borys Endle won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:08.25.
 
Next Up
The Highlanders will host the NJIT Invite on Oct. 10-11, welcoming Villanova, Howard, and Saint Peter's to Newark.
