HEMPSTEAD, NY—Visiting NJIT swept Hofstra, 7-0, Sunday evening snapping a three-match skid at Hempstead Lake Indoor Tennis Facility.
The Highlanders, which played three matches in three days – two against teams ranked in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association's top 75 college team rankings, got back into the win column Sunday sweeping Hofstra, 7-0, improving to 7-4 on the season.
NJIT won two out of three doubles contests to earn the doubles point and swept the singles contests in straight sets to secure the win.
Doubles pair
Erik Artursson and
Andres Alban teamed for an 8-6 victory at first doubles defeating Ari Richman and Adrien Bailly. Alban won by identical scores at third singles, 6-1, 6-1 over Matthew Gemmell and Artursson followed up with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at the fourth spot over Beau Wills.
Highlander duo
Arnaud Holl and
Carl Jedlinski were 8-3 winners at third doubles topping Hofstra's Leo Pires and Gemmell. Holl was a 6-2, 6-4 winner a fifth singles cruising past Joseph Erichsen while Jedlinski finished up the match with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at sixth singles over Pires.
The NJIT men's tennis team will close out the home portion of their schedule on Sunday, March 9 hosting St. Bonaventure at 2:30pm in The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility. In pre-match ceremonies, the Highlanders will honor graduating senior
