HOBOKEN, NJ— The NJIT men's fencing team competed at the MACFA Round Robin hosted by Stevens held in the Canavan Arena Sunday.
NJIT's lone win came against Yeshiva, 16-11, as the Highlanders dropped three close matches against host Stevens (16-11), Army (14-13) and Hunter (14-13).
The foil squad put together a strong performance notching a 27-9 mark against the four opponents paced by junior
Ian Pershad, who finished with a 10-2 overall record. Pershad, from Montclair, NJ, went perfect against Army and Hunter and picked up a pair of wins against Yeshiva and Stevens.
David Kong, a member of the foil squad, competed against Stevens and Army finishing a perfect 6-0 on the day while sophomore
Maxwell Miller posted an 8-4 record for the Highlanders. Miller, from Harrington Park, NJ, was perfect against Yeshiva and earned 2-1 victories against Army and Hunter.
Sophomore
Alex Sadowski on the sabre squad, posted a 7-5 record going 3-0 against Stevens and 2-1 against Yeshiva and Hunter.
NJIT will return to action on Saturday when the Highlanders host the NJIT Invitational at 10am.
