NEWARK, NJ—NJIT men's basketball will play four of its final games at home in the Fleisher Athletic Center beginning Thursday at 7 pm, when it hosts first-time opponent Wheelock College.
The Highlanders return home looking for a win after falling in their last away game, 73-64, at UMass Lowell on Monday night.

The Highlanders are scoring just under 70 points per game (69.9 ppg), led by freshman
Damon Lynn (17.2 ppg) and sophomore
Terrence Smith (12.2 ppg). Smith is NJIT's top rebounder (6.2 rpg) and ranks 13th nationally in field goal percentage. Lynn ranks sixth nationally with 3.7 3-point field goals made per game.
Another sophomore,
Ky Howard averages 9.2 points and 4.2 rebounds to go with a team-leading 87 assists. Lynn and
Tim Coleman, a freshman, share the team lead in steals (22).
Wheelock, located in Boston, is a private college with a focus on Arts and Sciences, Education and Child Life, and Social Work and Family Studies. It is part of the Colleges of the Fenway, a consortium of six institutions in Boston's Longwood Medical and Academic Area. Although the member institutions maintain autonomy, shared resources allow students to access opportunities at the other member institutions with a combined enrollment of more than 11,000 undergraduates.
Athletically, Wheelock plays as one of nine members in the New England Collegiate Conference, a group of NCAA Division III programs.
Wheelock's head coach,
Matt LeVangie, recently completed two years leading the Wildcats. Before that, he spent three seasons as an assistant at Stonehill, which made the NCAA Division II Tournament twice in his three seasons.
Wheelock has some players with impressive statistics. Freshman forward
Anthony Williams, who is from Westchester County in New York, averaged 16.7 points and 5.8 rebounds.
Joe Reedy, a sophomore forward is the top rebounder (6.6 rpg), while averaging 14.3 points. And
Derek Fournier, a freshman, averages 11.5 points. Freshman
Nicholas Fenton is not a scorer (6.8 ppg), but he has 136 assists (7.2 apg; 3rd nationally in Division III) and 56 steals (3.1 spg).
