PRINCETON, NJ—Despite outshooting Princeton 46-33, the NJIT men's ice hockey club team suffered its first Colonial States Collegiate Hockey League loss, 5-1, as they failed to hold on to an early 1-0 lead.
Hobey Baker Memorial Rink, home of the only person to be enshrined in both the Hockey Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame, is one of the finest hockey venues in the world, where the NJIT Highlanders and the Princeton Tigers met to open the inaugural season.
The Highlanders, dominating the action with 18 shots in the 1
st period, jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Alex Fleischmann's goal, but that was all the scoring that NJIT could muster.
Goals: Fleischmann
Assists: Finkle
Saves: Pyrka (28)
