NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT men's tennis team topped visiting Fairfield, 6-1, Friday evening at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
 
NJIT (4-0) won two out of three doubles contests to earn the point while taking the first five singles matches cruising to a 6-1 victory.
 
Highlander duo Holger Norregaard and Markus Schultz were 6-5(5) winners at second doubles defeating Fairfield's Ofir Solomon and Dennis Zlobinsky.  Schultz, competing at first singles, defeated Ian Tesmond in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 while Norregaard came out on top in a three-set tilt with Fairfield's George Tioutine, 6-5(3), 3-6, 6-1.
 
NJIT doubles partner's Arnaud Holl and Carl Jedlinski won 6-5(5) at third doubles.  Holl was an 8-2 winner at fifth singles over RJ Mirabile.
 
Sophomores Andres Alban and Erik Artursson won in straight sets at third and fourth singles for the Highlanders.  Alban was a 6-5(7), 6-5(3) winner at the third spot while Artursson followed up with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at fourth singles.
 
NJIT will return to action on Saturday at 3:30pm when the Highlanders host Fairleigh Dickinson The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
