LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ—The NJIT men's tennis team defeated Rider, 6-1, Wednesday afternoon.
NJIT (1-0) won two out of three doubles contests and five out of six singles contests to earn the victory. Rider falls to 1-4 on the season.
Highlander duo
Andres Alban and
Erik Artursson blanked Rider's Rollie Malfitano and Chanton Phan, 8-0, at first doubles. Alban, playing at third singles, and Artursson at the fourth spot, won both matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.
NJIT's
Markus Schultz and
Nicolas Cameron were 8-1 winners at second doubles over Rider's Sean Sweeney and Kyle Stratton. Schultz won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles over Broncs' Malfitano, while Cameron won in straight sets, 6-1, 601 at fifth singles over Sweeney.
Highlander senior
Holger Norregaard defeated Rider's Pham, 6-0, 6-0 at the second spot.
The Highlanders will return to action on October 4-6 at the Columbia Invitational.
