NEWARK, NJ—NJIT junior
Dhruv Lad led visiting NJIT with a match-high 12 kills en route to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-10) victory at neighboring Rutgers-Newark Friday evening in Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association action at the Golden Dome.
The Highlanders, who play their final four remaining matches, all EIVA contests, away from Newark, improve to 6-18 overall and 3-7 in league play. Rutgers-Newark falls to 4-17 overall, 0-10 in the EIVA.
L ad, a junior from Old Bridge, NJ, who has started six out of the last seven contests for the Highlanders, posted a match-high 12 kills on 19 attempts with three errors for a .474 hitting percentage to go along with six digs for the visitors.

Chris Kaepernick added seven kills on 15 swings for a .400 hitting percentage while
Kajetan Borecki and
Kevin Van Oss each combined for a .833 hitting percentage (5k, 0e, 5att) for NJIT.
Sophomore
Zak Robben piled up 22 assists in two sets, while senior
Matthew Lui combined for 11 assists in one set for the visitors.
Rutgers-Newark Colin Ferguson combined for 10 kills while Adrian Lopez combined for 18 assists.
Quocmy Nguyen of the Scarlet Raiders and NJIT's Lad shared match-high honors with six digs, while the Highlanders held a 10-to-2 team blocking advantage led by Van Oss and
Doug Battersby with four blocks apiece.
NJIT's Battersby hit 1.000, notching four kills on four attempts while
Ryan Thomas recorded four kills on seven swings with one error for a .429 hitting percentage.
The Highlanders will play their Alumni Event against Rutgers-Newark on Saturday at 3pm in the Golden Dome and return to EIVA play on Friday, April 12 at 7pm when the team visits Harvard.
