NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT men's tennis team blanked visiting Hofstra, 7-0, Saturday at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
NJIT earned the point in the doubles contests, taking all three matches and won all six singles contests by straight sets, except one, coming at sixth singles.
Erik Artursson and
Petr Rousar won 8-3 at first doubles. Rousar, competing at the fourth spot, won by identical scores, 6-1, 6-1 defeating Ryhaan Gill and Artursson followed with a 6-2, 6-0 victroy at the fifth spot.
Holger Norregaard and
Markus Schultz were 5-4 (DNF) winners at second doubles. Norregaard won 6-3, 6-1 at second singles while Schultz was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at the first spot.
Since joining the Highlanders in January, Schultz has compiled a record of 10-0 in singles play and 7-0 in doubles action (with two unfinished contests Lafayette and Buffalo).
Fraser Croad and
Andres Alban swept Hofstra's duo at third doubles, 8-0. Alban won in straight sets at third singles, 6-4, 6-2 while Croad won in three sets, dropping the first frame, 6-3, and bouncing back for a 6-4, 10-7 victory.
NJIT will break for a week before heading off to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina for Spring Break.
