NEWARK, NJ—The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team won its fourth consecutive 4-3 decision over NJIT Sunday afternoon at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
Saint Joseph's (7-10), earned the doubles point taking second doubles 9-8 (7-2) and third doubles 9-7. NJIT won at first doubles, 8-4, as
Petr Rousar and
Victor Martinez topped Saint Joseph's Jeff Kessler and Max Montague.
NJIT's
Holger Norregaard took first singles over Alex Veronis, with a 6-3 victory in the first frame but the match became even at 1-1, as Veronis took the second set 7-6 (7-5). Norregaard came back in the final set to earn the point, 6-2.
Martinez also went the distance with Saint Joseph's Kessler. Martinez lost the first set, 6-3, but bounced back in the next two frames, 7-6 (7-3) and 6-4 for the win.
Sophomore
Ike Kiro competing at fourth singles won 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 over Saint Joseph's Dan Barrus.
The Highlanders will play the remainder of its schedule on the road first traveling to Hofstra on Saturday at 12pm.
