PHILADEPHIA – The NJIT men's tennis team was edged, 4-3, by Saint Joseph's Sunday afternoon.
Saint Joseph's earned the double-point taking two out of three doubles contests. NJIT's Petr Rousar and Joao Tasca were 8-6 winners at first doubles.
Rousar, a freshman, was the only double-winner for NJIT on the day with a 7-6(4), 6-3 victory at first singles.
Ike Kiro and Martin Cederqvist won in straight sets at third and sixth singles. Kiro won 7-6(5), 6-2 at the third spot and Cederqvist was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at the six spot.
Saint Joseph's won at second, fourth and fifth singles and earned the doubles point to claim the match, 4-3.
The Highlanders return to action on Saturday when the team travels to Stony Brook. The match is set for Noon.
