NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT men's fencing team hosted the MACFA B Round Robin Sunday at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility marking the start to the 2011-12 season.
Teams competing at the MACFA B Round Robin were: Army, Stevens, Hunter and Yeshiva. NJIT picked up wins against Hunter (17-10) and Yeshiva (20-7). Army defeated the Highlanders (17-10) while Stevens edged NJIT (15-12).
Junior foilist
Max McDermott combined for a 12-0 record sweeping all four opponents. Newcomer
Ian Pershad recorded a 9-3 record going 2-1 vs. Army, Stevens and Hunter and blanking Yeshiva, 3-0. Senior
Tony Sorgi posted one win against each opponent. The foil team combined for a 29-7 overall record.
Sophomore
Bryan Ransinangue recorded a 10-2 record on the saber strip. Ransinangue swept Hunter and Yeshiva, 3-0, and went 2-1 vs. Army and Stevens. Junior
Dylan Carr combined for a 9-3 overall record while
Christian Aldover went 7-2. The saber team combined for a 26-10 record.
Also competing in their first collegiate fencing match was:

Dan Wolfenden and Pershad.
NJIT returns to action on December 2-4 at the NAC Open in Kansas City, MO.
