NEWARK, NJ – Rutgers-Newark swept a non-conference men's volleyball match from visiting NJIT, 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-17), Friday night at The Golden Dome.

The Scarlet Raiders (1-0) junior right side hitter Kenneth de Groh hit .706 for the match posting a match-high 13 kills while Austin Pappas followed with 12 kills, five digs and two service aces. 

Marcin Midura added nine kills.  Senior setter Jeff Zornig recorded a match-high 41 assists while adding four block assists.

NJIT junior right side hitter Adam Gustafson and sophomore middle hitter Kevin Van Oss paced the Highlanders (1-4) with six kills apiece. Sophomore setter Matthew Lui piled up 20 assists for the visitors. Four different Highlanders notched four digs defensively.

The Highlanders will return to action at Saint Francis (PA) on Sunday at 3pm.
