Harvard Sweeps Highlanders

Matthew Lui piles up team-high 22 assists

NEWARK, NJ – Harvard defeated NJIT recording the Crimson's first win of the season in straight sets 3-0 (30-21, 30-24, 30-22) Saturday afternoon in Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Hay Division match-up at the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center.

Harvard (1-9, 1-1 EIVA Hay) got a match-high 20 kills from Matt Jones while Nicola Ivica tallied 16 kills on 23 swings with just three errors for a .565 hitting percentage. Setter Gil Weintraub piled up a match-high 47 assists.

NJIT (1-11, 1-4 EIVA Hay) was paced by freshman Christian Puszies 15 kills and nine digs while classmate Kevin Van Oss added 10. Freshman setter Matthew Lui recorded 22 assists for the Highlanders.

The Highlanders will return to action on Thursday when they host Kings College (TN) at 7pm in the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center.
