NEWARK, NJ - The league leading University of Scranton Royals came into town last night and probably expected to roll all over NJIT, and they did. But, only for a while.
It took the Highlanders some time to adjust, but after the quick start by Scranton, which gave them a 4-0 cushion, the Highlanders awoke from their offensive malaise and actually ended up outshooting the Royals 25-22.
If not for the poor start, the result might have been very different as the teams trade goals for the rest of the game. Stan Pilny started the scoring, with all five Highlanders contributing on a real scrappy power play.
Assists went to Melillo & Naumovski, but everyone had a hand in it. Alex Guimaraes, Ed Vinokur & Jason Anangos combined for another hard fought goal as they hammered away until Alex finally was able to put in the rebound.
Michael Melillo and Kevin McMorrow finished off the scoring as they too worked and worked until Mike scored.
