NEWARK, NJ - Back in October, NJIT and CW Post battled to a 1-1 tie before anyone knew how good either team would be.  This past Friday, the Pioneers came to Prudential Center as the 14th ranked team in the Northeast and although the Highlanders have struggled in their inaugural season in ACHA D-II hockey, they battled again. 

60 minutes of hockey may have proved that CW Post is the better team, but it also proved that NJIT can play with the best of them.  Although the final score was 3-0 in favor of the visitors, NJIT had pressure on their opponents all game long. 

Will Neifeld played brilliantly in net for the Pioneers, stopping everything that the Highlanders threw at him.  At the other end, Mike Lipinski stopped 27 out of 30 shots.  He was victimized by a turnover on the power play, which resulted in a short-handed goal and certainly was not at fault when Post completed the scoring in the 3rd period with a power play goal. 

The Highlanders are now averaging 1.74 goals per game and have little or no margin for error.  Defensively the team has a respectable 3.91 gaa, but needs to put a few on the board to break the scoring slump.
