The Scarlet Knights of Rutgers down 2-0 near the end of the 2nd period changed to a more physical style of play and it paid dividends as they scored once in the 2nd and another in the 3rd to tie the Highlanders in the opening game of a Home-and-Home series this weekend. 

Mike Melilo through the puck towards the net and was rewarded when it bounced in off Kevin McMorrow's leg for the first goal of the game.  Alex Guimares set up the hard driving Jason Anagnos with a beautiful feed just 3 1/2 minutes later to take a 2-0 lead in the 2nd period, but that was all the offense that NJIT could muster. 

Mike Lipinski turned in his normal solid performance in net with 26 saves.  While the Highlanders only had 6 penalties, 4 of them were in the 3rd period, which limited their effectiveness and allowed the visitors to slip away with a tie.
